Looking for a procurement professional seeking the challenging and rewarding work of leading a team that acquires materials, equipment, and services for over 30 schools and overall school district operations. Racine Unified School District is the 5th largest in the state serving nearly 19,000 students in a culturally diverse community.
The Purchasing Supervisor manages the procurement process and ensures that the Purchasing Department serves as a procurement resource to all District schools and departments. The position also: 1) manages all bid processes including the development of specifications, terms and conditions and the bid issuance, receipt, tabulation, analysis and recommendation for award; 2) reviews vendor contracts to assure alignment and compliance with District standards and Board of Education policies; 3) manages, tests, implements, and documents purchasing and financial software system utilization, upgrades and implementations; 4) reviews, approves and processes purchase requisitions and purchase orders for furniture, equipment, materials, supplies, textbooks, athletics and services for the District; 5) administer the purchasing card program, including creation of guidelines and resolving transaction or administrative issues; and 6) develops and coordinates efforts to train staff or provide an understanding on purchasing processes, policies, and procedures.
Bachelorís Degree and/or a minimum of five years training and experience in Business Management or Purchasing. NIGP certification as a Certified Public Procurement Officer or Certified Professional Public Buyer preferred.
Qualified applicants must have an understanding of governmental procurement processes and systems and be able to interpret and apply rules, regulations, laws, guidelines and procedures related to procurement processes. In addition, well qualified candidates will have experience utilizing purchasing software and managing the technical operations of the procurement system. Experience is preferred with Lawson or other school financial software systems. Applicants should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and be able to work positively with staff and public.
